Assistant for Science Classes

  • Are you great with kids?
  • Do you like science?
  • Are you punctual, reliable, and willing to pitch in wherever you’re needed?
  • Do you have a sense of humor and the ability to remain calm in the midst of controlled chaos?

If so, you may be right for the role of Rock-it Science Assistant at our laboratory classroom in Santa Clara. At Rock-it Science, we use crazy stories in combination with exciting hands-on experiments to make kids enthusiastic about learning science.

Job Responsibilities:

As a Class Assistant, your main duties will be to assist the instructor, pass out supplies, help with prep and cleanup, keep an eye out for students who may need some extra attention, etc. You’ll also keep track of the student database and sign-in sheets and interact with parents as needed.

Rate, Days and Hours:

The rate is $10 per hour. Our classes are presented in three 10-week series (a total of 30 weeks beginning late September and ending early in June), plus 8 weeks of summer classes. The Assistant will be needed only during the weeks when classes are in session.

During the school year, this is a part-time position, $10 per hour. Hours may vary slightly from week to week, depending on the number of classes scheduled and the amount of prep work needed. We estimate the Assistant will work approximately 9 hrs on Tuesday (8:30 - 5:30), 6.5 hrs on Thursday (8:00 - 2:30), and 7.25 hrs on Friday (9:45 - 5:30). Fall 2011 classes begin Tuesday, September 27.

During the summer, the position is full-time, 5 days per week for the 8 weeks that summer camps are in session.
